NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course

The Basics of Pistol Shooting is intended for all individuals regardless of previous shooting experience. The training takes place in a classroom-type and range environments where you will receive direct instruction from an certified instructor from beginning to end.
Topics:
- Gun safety rules
- Proper operation of revolvers and semi-automatic pistols
- Ammunition knowledge and selection, pistol selection and storage
- Shooting fundamentals
- Pistol inspection and maintenance
- Marksmanship
- Shooting range safety
Length: Six hours with a break for lunch
Prerequisites: none
What to Bring:
- Driver’s License or State ID
- Notebook, Pen or Pencil
- Handgun (.22 caliber or larger)
- Ammunition (50 rounds minimum to qualify)
- Hearing Protection
- Eye Protection (reading glasses or prescription glasses are authorized)
- Baseball Cap (to keep hot expended cartridges from landing between you and your eye protection)
- Appropriate clothing for the range. (Closed-toed shoes, No low or open shirts)
Schedule:
- Four hours of classroom instruction
- Break for lunch, travel to the range
- One to two hours of live-fire training at the range
